OUR SPIRIT & PLACE EVENT: NATURE AWAKENS CREATIVITY

The Central Indiana Land Trust is hosting a first-hand experience of sight and sound by traveling into beautiful and inspiring natural places through the interpretations of musicians, poets, writers, photographers, and fine artists.  "Nature Awakens Creativity" will engage people from all of these communities and utilize the Central Indiana Land Trust's nature preserves to give the audience multiple ways to connect with these wonderful places and further understand their importance in relation to human spirituality.

"Nature Awakens Creativity" contains three elements:

Excursions

The Land Trust provided two organized excursions in the summer of 2009 for artisans and the general public to visit selected preserves in order to immerse themselves in Central Indiana's natural beauty.  Led by Land Trust staff, visitors had the chance to create works of art through inspiration from nature.  Artists were also be able to visit our preserves on their own, as they are open to the public.

Standing Exhibit

From October 1 through November 23, 2009, the Indianapolis Art Center will display a standing exhibit of selected works resulting from this project in the Ruth Lilly Library.  The public is welcome to visit the Library during the Art Center's regular hours, which are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  The Indianapolis Art Center is located at 820 E. 67th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Audio Visual Performance During the Spirit & Place Festival

On Tuesday, November 10, 2009, the Land Trust, in conjunction with the Indianapolis Women's Chorus and its improvisational musicians, will produce a multi-sensory presentation involving performances of live music, poetry, and narration, highlighted with a colorful moving backdrop of flowing images produced through film and art.  This interactive presentation will take place in the Frank M. Basile Auditorium of the Indianapolis Art Center starting at 7:00 pm.
