WAPIHANI NATURE PRESERVE

Wapihani Nature Preserve is located along the White River in the rapidly growing town of Fishers. It was purchased with White River Restoration Trust funds in early 2006. Riverside Middle School is located immediately south of Central Indiana Land Trust’s property. The property will be available for students to utilize as an outdoor educational laboratory, and the students will be learning about the natural features and history of this property.

In Spring of 2008, 19,000 tree seedlings were planted on a portion of the property.  The other portion was planted with a mix of prairie grasses and forbs with islands of tree seedlings. Join us as we watch the restoration take shape over the coming years.

Directions to Wapihani Nature Preserve from I-69 and 116th Street in Fishers: Head West on 116th Street for about 3 miles to Eller Road.  The property is located at the Southwest corner of 116th Street and Eller Road.

Public parking is available in the parking lot located behind Riveside Middle School (10910 Eller Road) after 4 pm on weekdays and anytime during weekends, or for one or two cars at the end of Trails End Road (just West of the property). Click here  for an aerial map of the property.
